Francis Ford Coppola Tributes Pour in After Godfather Director, 84, Makes Official Announcement

“One of the greatest surprises in life is when you realize that you’re elderly,” Francis Ford Coppola says in a new announcement that was recently released.

“But there is a gentle comfort coming from that, as everyone loves stories and long-ago adventures told by their Grandpa,” the author writes.

The director of such iconic films as The Godfather series and Apocalypse Now made the remark when he joined social media for the first time, at the age of 84, to share information about his next picture Megalopolis.

The movie is the latest obsession of a director who has nothing to prove but plenty of stories left to tell, and it stars a large ensemble cast that includes Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, Lawrence Fisburne, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Schwartzman, Grace VanderWaal, Kathryn Hunter, Talia Shire, Dustin Hoffman, and D.B. Sweeney, among others.

In his introduction, Coppola stated that he was joining social media for the first time because “my hope is to give you a glimpse into my life and journey in making the most interesting film of my career, @Megalopolisfilm.” Megalopolis was the director’s most recent film.

This will hopefully answer some of the questions that have been raised regarding the picture, which is one of the most ambitious projects that Coppola has worked on during his tremendously illustrious career.

A report that there was mayhem on the set of Megalopolis was refuted earlier this year by Francis Ford Coppola and Adam Driver, who both worked on the production.

Adam Driver, one of the stars of the movie, was interviewed by Deadline and said, “I’d like to briefly respond to the article that was published by The Hollywood Reporter on Monday, January 9th.” “We’re in the clear!” I have no idea which series you are referring to! That’s not a face I’m familiar with! I’ve worked on sets where there was a lot of chaos, and this one is nothing like that.

Coppola also refuted the THR report, saying that he is still operating within his budget and on schedule. He made this statement to Deadline.

According to Coppola, “I love my cast, I love what I’m getting each day, I am on schedule and on budget, and that’s what’s important to me.”
The story of the film, which was written by Coppola and directed by Coppola, is about a woman (Emmanuel) who is torn between the allegiances of her traditionalist father (Whitaker) and her forward-thinking lover (Driver). The film was produced by Coppola and Michael Bederman and written and directed by Coppola.

Whatever the motivation was behind Coppola’s decision to join social media, fans were quick to express their admiration for one of the most influential directors of all time.

Many were overly enthusiastic.

“You’re very welcome! Your Dracula is one of my all-time favorite movies, and there is a good probability that my mother is now watching one of your Godfather flicks at any given moment! ” remarked one supporter

“Yes! Someone else remarked, “A living legend and genius filmmaker, he gives us all a Mega reason to go back to the movies!”

Another person remarked, “You are a significant source of motivation for my screenwriting and my drive as a filmmaker.” “I’m sure you hear it all, but you are a legend in every sense, sir.” “I’m sure you hear it all.”

Some of the tributes were straightforward:

Many of the listeners exclaimed, “Welcome, Maestro!”

Cary Elwes, who starred in films such as Princess Bride, Glory, Saw, and Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, greeted Francis with the phrase “Benvenuto, Francis.”

James Gunn, head of DC movie and writer and director of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, greeted the newcomer with “Welcome, my friend.”

In addition to that, there were a few humorous cautions.

One of the audience members made a remark that “Be careful – social media is a bigger horror show than making Apocalypse Now.”
