SI Swim Model Ashley Callingbull Discusses CFL Diversity and Change

Ashley Callingbull, who is from the Enoch Cree Nation in Alberta, is an outspoken supporter of Indigenous people and a serial barrier-breaker.

When she appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2022, she made history as the first woman of Indigenous First Nations descent to do so.

Despite that high-profile win, most of her advocacy for First Nations groups takes place quietly in the background.

Callingbull currently hosts games for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League.

Callingbull has recently advocated for more diversity and inclusion in the CFL by taking part in the "Diversity Is Strength" panel.

She described her time with the Elks in greater detail in an Instagram post she published on August 17.

Even before the Elks changed their name in 2021 to be more inclusive, Callingbull was having meetings with the Elks management and advocating on behalf of the First Nations people.

The 33-year-old has nothing but good things to say about the program and its directors.

Ali Landry moved on quickly after her brief marriage to Mario Lopez.
