Producer Hints at Summer 2017 Debut for Transformers/GI Joe Movie

Lorenzo di Bonaventura, producer of the upcoming Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover film, has given an official release date.Sci-Fi & Fantasy Gazette recently interviewed di Bonaventura,

who revealed that the Real American Heroes will make an appearance in the upcoming Transformers sequel. Di Bonaventura originally projected completion of the project for 2026,

but the ongoing writers' and actors' strike has slowed progress. If the strike continues until 2019, it seems like a very optimistic date.

Di Bonaventura agreed that this was an excellent inquiry. We were going to begin writing a script when the strike hit. We had hoped to have it in 2025, but if the strike drags on much longer, I guess we'll be looking at 2026 instead.

G.I. Joe's secret headquarters was revealed to be the office of a mysterious recruiter (Michael Kelly) at the shocking climax of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,

where human Autobot ally Noah Diaz (Anthony Ramos) was recruited. Fans are curious about whether or not the crossover sequel would reference the previous Joe films

particularly Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins (2021). The producer elucidated the situation by saying that the writers are still grappling with this issue and the central plot. Here's the answer:

we haven't gotten that far yet, so di Bonaventura couldn't say anything about the second question. But, as in every other "Transformers" film, humans and robots team up to defeat the bad guy.
