Luke Bryan cancels a show in Mississippi: What we know about his sickness

As he continues his tour throughout the country, Luke Bryan is balancing performance cancellations against the strength of his voice.

The 30-time country chart-topper has already canceled or postponed three gigs, the most recent on Sunday in Brandon, Mississippi.

"I'm going to have to cancel my show there tonight," Bryan said on Instagram early Sunday morning.

I attempted to sing at both shows Thursday and Saturday under doctor's orders after taking 6 days off to heal, and it was a struggle."

The cancellation in Mississippi occurred after a sold-out event at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Saturday night.

On Thursday, he'll appear at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Bryan acknowledged his ailment at his Nashville gig as little more than a "head cold."

Despite many days of relaxation, Bryan coughed numerous times between songs on Saturday.
