High-Stakes, Ejection-Filled Series Between the Guardians and the White Sox

Terry Francona was ejected twice and Jose Ramirez and Tim Anderson clashed in the Cleveland Guardians-Chicago White Sox final series of 2023.

Players and managers rarely get ejected. Sometimes, but seldom in consecutive games. The weekend Cleveland Guardians-Chicago White Sox series defied this.

Brayan Rocchio tried to steal second base Friday night. Rocchio was out after Tim Anderson's mitt knocked him off the bag.

Terry Francona was ejected for the second time this season after criticizing the play and umpires. After the game, he criticized Anderson and the crew for the play.

Fans didn't realize this was merely a teaser for the series. Saturday night was the showdown.

Jose Ramirez blasted a hustling double over first base and slid into second. Ramirez felt Anderson cheap-shotted him with the tag and... well, you know. Anderson falls! Anderson falls!"

This brawl ousted players, managers, and others like Emmanuel Clase. After the game, Ramirez said Anderson had disrespected the game several times. Tito also said that the White Sox shortstop was making jokes about Gabriel Arias.

After the skirmish, MLB will likely suspend players, although they haven't yet. The series finale was peaceful and unaffected by the night before's fight. Given what happened, this series will be remembered for years.
