Over the weekend, a group of six Alabama gator hunters took a massive gator while roaming the swamps near Mobile Bay south of Interstate 10.

According to an Alabama wildlife official, their enormous bull gator weighed in at 524 pounds and was a whopping 12 feet, 9 inches in length.

"From the time he was hooked until he was dispatched, it took us about an hour," hunter Taylor Douglas told WKRG of Mobile in an email.

"The most difficult part was getting his body into the boat." Three Game Wardens were in the boat with us and witnessed the entire fight."

A photo posted on Facebook by the Alabama Wildlife & Freshwater Fisheries Division shows six pals lined up behind the gator,

which is suspended from a huge scale in a marina parking lot.

Taylor claims that the crew has been chasing gators for years, but the 524-pounder is the largest alligator they've ever caught.
