Angelina Jolie hires 15-year-old daughter as Outsiders Broadway assistant.

A request for response from EW was not immediately answered by Jolie's representatives.

The Outsiders, based on S.E. Hinton's 1967 book of the same name, which she published at the age of barely 18,

, presents the classic story of social unrest in rural America during the 1960s as seen through the gang rivalry between the working-class Greasers and the upper-class Socs.

Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 movie version of the book,

which starred Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Diane Lane, and Ralph Macchio, was a notable adaptation of the book.

The lead actor was C. Thomas Howell, who played Ponyboy Curtis.

As she develops the musical adaption of The Outsiders, Angelina Jolie has employed her 15-year-old daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt as her assistant.

"Viv reminds me of my mother in that she isn't focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives,"
