After Husband Kyle Jacobs' Death, Kellie Pickler Thanks Fans: 'Darkest Time in My Life'

Kellie Pickler has now spoken out about the death of her spouse.

On February 17, 2019, singer-songwriter-guitarist Kyle Jacobs took his own life. He was 49.

In a statement released to PEOPLE on Thursday, Pickler, 37, expressed gratitude to her audience for standing by her.

She explained that her spouse had given her an invaluable lesson: "do nothing, just be still" when in a bind. The advise he gave me, I've decided to take.

The country singer and radio presenter went on, "Thank you to my family, friends, and supporters, for the countless letters, calls,

and messages that you have sent my way." As I go through the darkest time of my life,

 it has touched my spirit and is helping me get through it. Many of you have assured me that you know I pray for you every day.

Pickler also detailed her funeral arrangements for Jacobs. "I am planning an intimate memorial for my husband, which will happen later this fall," she continued. "That is what Kyle would have wanted."
