Grizzlies extend Ja Morant’s suspension amid gun controversy.

Memphis Grizzlies standout point guard Ja Morant will be out for at least the next four games, according to ESPN.

These are games versus the Golden State Warriors, the Dallas Mavericks (back-to-back), and the Miami Heat.

Glendale Police in Colorado closed their investigation into Morant after he allegedly flashed a gun on his Instagram live while at a nightclub.

Glendale Police stated in a press release that they were “unable to determine that probable cause existed for the filing of charges.”

“In this case, it should be noted that, on the night in question, the GPD did not receive any calls for service at the nightclub regarding a weapon of any type,” the department said. “As a result, no disturbances were reported, and no citizens or club patrons came forward to file a complaint.”

“The investigation also concluded that no one was threatened or endangered by the firearm, and no firearm was ever found.” Although the video was disturbing enough to warrant an inquiry, there was insufficient evidence to charge anyone.”Morant, on the other hand, might face a league suspension in addition to the Grizzlies’ punishment.

According to NBA columnist Marc Stein, who was featured on the “This League Uncut” podcast on Tuesday, there are “a couple of elements” that the league and Colorado law enforcement are looking into.

Ja Morant'

“This was done on the road,” Stein said, referring to Morant’s suspected use of a gun. “I believe this was at a club in Denver.” As a result, there are queries such as, ‘Did he physically bring the pistol in himself?’ Then, when on the road, there’s the question of whether he had the pistol on the team plane.”

The league’s CBA specifies that having a gun on team property will result in a ban, but the term is “imposed at the commissioner’s discretion,” according to Stein.
The Grizzlies’ vice president of communications and basketball information strategy, Laura Ehret, told USA Today that the team complies with all TSA standards.

Morant apologized on Saturday after receiving blowback for the event, stating he would “get help.”

I accept full responsibility for what happened last night. “I’m sorry for disappointing my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis, and the entire Grizzlies organization,” Morant said. “I’m going to take some time off to seek help and work on improving my stress management and overall well-being.”

The Grizzlies have lost both of their games without Morant, dropping 135-129 to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday and 112-103 to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.
